The Congress has won the Sardarshahar assembly by-election in Churu district with a huge margin. From here Congress candidate Anil Sharma defeated BJP candidate Ashok Kumar Pincha by 26 thousand 852 votes. At the same time, RLP candidate Lalchand Moond remained at number three. The by-elections have been held here due to the demise of senior Congress leader and MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma.


Anil Sharma got a total of 91 thousand 357 votes. While BJP's Ashok Pincha got 64 thousand 505 and RLP's Lalchand Mund got 46 thousand 753 votes.


Anil Sharma, who was elected MLA from Sardarshahar, is the son of former MLA Bhanwarlal. He won his very first assembly election with a huge margin. With this victory, the Congress has also maintained its record of winning the by-elections.


Bhanwarlal also defeated

The Congress is dominating the Sardarshahar assembly seat. This is the tenth time the party has won the elections since independence. Ashok Kumar Pincha, the BJP candidate who finished second from here, was fielded by the party in 2013 and 2018 as well. Bhanwarlal Sharma defeated Pincha in both the elections. This time his son Anil Sharma has defeated him. Pincha won the election from here in 2008.


Here on December 5, 72.09 percent polling was held at 295 polling stations. There was a triangular contest between Congress's Anil Sharma, BJP's Ashok Pincha and RLP's Lalchand Mund.


District Election Officer Siddharth Sihag said that the counting of postal ballots started at 8 am in the RO's room. After this, the counting of EVM machines started at around 8.30 am.


A counting supervisor, a counting assistant and a micro observer are present at each table. He said that 4 extra tables were installed in the RO's room, on which postal ballots and service voters were counted.


220 police officers-jawans deployed

Tight security arrangements have been made by the police to maintain security at the counting venue. SP Digant Anand said that 220 police officers and jawans of the district were deployed at the counting site.


It will have 4 DSP, 2 CI, 11 SI, 14 ASI, 165 head constables and constables, 22 women constables, 3 fixed pickets. In which 1-4 will remain. Apart from this, three mobile parties have been formed, in which 1-4 will also be assigned. At the same time, some police personnel have also been kept in reserve. Jabta of 1-20 will be deployed in these.


2 lakh 8 thousand 956 voters voted

The total number of voters in Sardarshahar Assembly is 2 lakh 89 thousand 843, in which 1 lakh 10 thousand 269 male voters and 98 thousand 692 female voters exercised their vote. Whereas in the year 2018, there were 2 lakh 69 thousand 351 voters in Sardarshahar assembly constituency.


In 2018, Bhanwarlal Sharma of INC defeated Ashok Pincha of BJP with a margin of 16 Thousand 816 votes. At that time there was 76.42 percent polling.
