Why did the Prime Minister choose today's date?

Prime Minister Modi decided to take a bath in the holy Triveni on the Ashtami date of Magh month during Puny Kaal. According to the Hindu calendar, February 5 is the Ashtami date of Gupt Navratri, which is considered very auspicious religiously. On this day, penance, meditation and sadhana are considered very fruitful. It is believed that all wishes are fulfilled by bathing and doing penance on this day.

This day is also known as Bhishmashtami. According to religious beliefs, during the Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamah gave up his life in the presence of Shri Krishna on the Ashtami date of Magh month, which gave him salvation.
