N. Biren Singh / Manipur CM Biren Singh resigned, took a big decision after meeting Shah

Amid the ongoing violence in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal. Before resigning, he had met Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. The assembly session was proposed from Monday.

N. Biren Singh: A major development has come to light amid the violence and political instability that has been going on in Manipur for the past several months. Chief Minister N Biren Singh has resigned from his post. He met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal and submitted his resignation letter. During this, 14 MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Naga People's Front (NPF) were also present with him. State BJP President A Sharda and senior BJP leader Sambit Patra were also part of this delegation.

What did N Biren Singh write in his resignation?

In his resignation letter submitted to the Governor, N Biren Singh wrote, "It has been an honor for me to serve the people of Manipur so far. I am very grateful to the Central Government for the timely action, intervention, development works and implementation of various projects to protect the interests of every Manipuri."

Before resigning, N Biren Singh had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, indicating that some important decisions could be taken regarding the political situation in the state.

Resignation before assembly session

It is worth noting that the assembly session was going to start in Manipur from Monday. Earlier, on Saturday, N Biren Singh left for Delhi by special plane and had a meeting with the Home Minister.

On Saturday itself, an important meeting was held with the MLAs of the BJP-led ruling coalition in the Chief Minister's Secretariat, in which more than 20 MLAs were present. This meeting was organized because the opposition Congress party was preparing to bring a no-confidence motion against the government.

There are a total of 60 seats in the Manipur Assembly, in which the number of MLAs of different parties is as follows:
